Nonesuch Nameless I've never known anything like this before, & I've never needed anything. I've never known anyone like you in my life, & I've never needed, no I lied, I need this. My eyes bleed, my head like lead upon my breast, Sleep & breathe, sleep & breathe 'til tomorrow comes again. And someday I can keep this sleep, And stillness in my chest. Better to sleep & wake confused, Better no dreams to feel abused. No happy ones to feel let down, Just sleep & sleep until I drown.

Sylvia Thompson "Say something, say something," said the girl @ reception to the man on the second floor. The staircase swirled like a painting, a method, like a fabric beneath him. And that Sylvia Thompson would surely save him, that Sylvia Thompson would come. But then you said nothing, simply turning to return, for you remembered that you'd been here before. And you knew you were a half-life, were a shadow, & you lay yourself down on the floor. And that Sylvia Thompson could surely save you, that Sylvia Thompson could come. Outside of the building, the tenement walls appeared to be shaking, & the ground to fall; & the billboards all leered, like reading in a nightmare, now I'm waiting to wake up & the sun to fall

The Girl In The Machine Did I ever toe the line? Did you ever tell me straight? Did you hear my brother cry, When I left, for you? Well I built my life around you, Your deep blue eyes, & your beaded hair. We're half a world away now, & you've left me here, in the blackened air. Like a needle on the beach, (Splintered under the stars...) I am spitting sand, chasing shadows. When you wrote me from Japan, (When are you coming home..?) I was too far South, to understand. & there's nothing left to follow. (I could lose myself...) & there's nothing left... (All for nothing.) Are my words to blank to tear, (Ready rolled phrases fall...) Any pliance, from your underwear? & I'm left in smithereens, (Shattered & broken love...) Dream of separate sides, on dirty sheets.

Drawings 03:30
Drawings You are, drawing again, scrawling and drawing me in, drawing and I'm falling through your door. Now I am, standing and stalling as I'm falling for these drawings before me again. And I, see it in your eyes, already you are trawling and trawling through these mental pictures in the back of your mind. Trawl and recall a kaleidoscope of monotone. Kaleidoscope of monotone. And now you, scrawl it and claw these mental landscapes on the back of my hand. And I am, falling and falling again, but you keep Calling me back, calling and calling, you can't stop Bawling, recalling all the time, you are mauling yourself Mauling yourself and it really is appalling, it's appalling And I am, falling and falling again, but you keep Calling me back, calling and calling, you can't stop Bawling, recalling all the time, you are mauling yourself Mauling yourself and it really is appalling, it's appalling Now I am, walking away Walking and you're calling me back Calling and it's dawning on me... dawning It's not me that's falling. It's not me that's falling.

Valley of salt Where will you go? Where will you go? When you’re worn by fatigue, and your suffering, And wondering how? The words and the pictures swimming round in my skull, Divers’ places of the world to behold, I spoke the words aloud like a charm, but the desert taunted me, Whispering how? And the sand flew up into my eyes, I couldn’t see. (Drinking brandy from necessity...) Earth beneath us through the valley of salt, all cracked from the heat. (Reflecting sadly on this misery....) And all this to arrive in a town full of thieves. (This soundless desert brings us no sleep...) All this to arrive in a town full of thieves, (And this town is full of thieves...) All asking me how? Asking me how? Will this always follow me? (Caracoling me) Will this always follow me? (Caracoling me) Asking me how?

Lights Out 05:49
Lights Out She's only 21, her life is gone. She's only 21, her life is gone. Baby's in the bathroom, puking again, A kitchen sink drama, under her skin. Do you wish now that you'd fallen? Mother, this is our child's life now, Mother, our's is gone. Mother, these are our children's lives now, Mother, our's are long gone. He's only 21, his life is gone. He's only 21, his life is gone. Father's in the garden, drinking again. He only gets more angry, every time he screams and cries; "Your life is a marvel, but I wish it hadn't been." But her depressions I can't heal, and her misery. His weakness for kindness, why are you so needy? He would eat you from the inside, but when he's lying there helpless, And what have I been? And how have I been? They're only 21, their lives are gone. They're only 21, their lives are gone. And they don't: dance all night anymore, Don't kiss and say I love you, "Oh, I'm scared, I'm scared." But we still have each other though, don't we? Don't we?

Protect the Humans Here I am Superman, cape in my hand. Here I am Batman, wings on my back. Protect the Humans, I wish I can, But I am no scientist, I have no plan. This cape I have stolen, these wings are not mine. I see you crying, but I don't know why. I have no mind powers, only mind, But I am no scientist, I have no time.

Glass & Concrete Queen Crab baby, stop eating all my words, they’re just another meal to you. Staring through glass & concrete at the sky, does anything seem real to you? So you’re crying & crying, “Why would he leave?” Crying & crying, “Why would he leave? You’re so much more to me… Queen Crab baby, our hands joined sleeping, alone at last with the virgin who laughs too hard, I could be just one of her toys, still I'm wondering who could be making all this noise, all this Crying & crying “Why would he leave?” Your Crying & crying, “Why would he leave?” All of your CactiShed crying, “Why would he leave?” Crying & crying, “Why would he leave?” You’re so much more to me…

Simply Confused I'm Simply Confused, & easily abused. I'm Simply Confused, & easily abused. & by the by, I'm no great man. & by the by, I'm no honest man. I'm Simply Confused, & easily abused. I'm Simply Confused, & easily abused. I sit in this chair, you play with my head. I lay on the floor, where I'm easy to tread.

Hello, New World... Awaiting the L from Hospital, Chicago is Cold tonight, lake view like crimped sheets Under moonlight. She thinks of her father as a train wreck, Riding his rollercoaster towards death, and They speak in a twist of languages, Speed winding in her stomach round All the bends. (& all you'll ever see is you looking back at me. & all you'll ever see is you looking back at me.) I’d seen her collection of childhood toys, Glass animals sharp and cracked, thrown Into ungainly flight in a fit of her Mother’s religious pique, symptoms of The old world, their broken limbs like Symbols of the new. Hello, new world, hello. Hello city lights. Hello, new world, hello. Hello city lights. Let’s never go back to your mother’s house, I joke, I plead, I pray; let’s cut to The L in circles, or ride The northbound freeway, let's make our escape. Let’s never see the Chicago moon again. Let’s never see the Chicago moon again. There's blood on the lake tonight, We're dieing inside...
